THE FASSI CRANES ARE DESIGNED FOLLOWING THE EN12999/S2 REGULATION

The importance of crane classification: we explain in detail the "S" classification and its implications.

At Transgruas we are committed to offering the latest in technology and safety in our articulated hydraulic knockle boom cranes. Today, we want to highlight the innovations in Fassi cranes, specifically their design in accordance with EN 12999 and the importance of the "S" classification in the selection and use of articulated hydraulic cranes.

Design in accordance with EN 12999 standard

Fassi cranes are designed following the EN 12999 Standard, which establishes the guidelines to offer safety and efficiency in all work situations. The structural calculations of these cranes take into account several critical factors, including:

  • Crane geometry
  • Applied loads (such as wind, crane mass and dynamic effects)
  • Characteristics of the material used
  • Security coefficient

Dynamic effects and HC/HD classes

The standard also introduces the consideration of dynamic effects in the operation of truck cranes. Different management classes have been defined:

  • HC Classes: Related to the type of assembly (on truck or fixed).
  • HD Classes: Based on activation type (ON-OFF, proportional control, or automatic with dynamic effects control).

These classes help determine the crane's ability to handle dynamic loads, optimizing its use for specific applications.

"S" classification: Stress class

The "S" rating is essential to determine the intensity of use of a crane and its resistance to fatigue. Depending on the type of application, this classification evaluates the percentage of effort with respect to the load capacity and the number of cycles of the articulated hydraulic crane.

  • S1 and S2: These are the main classifications, where S2 indicates a greater number of cycles at full load, guaranteeing a longer useful life and greater resistance to fatigue.

For example, a crane rated S2 can handle 64,000 cycles at full load, while one rated S1 is designed for 32,000 cycles.

These innovations and classifications ensure that Fassi truck cranes offer reliable performance tailored to the specific needs of each of our customers. At Transgruas Cial, we pride ourselves on providing equipment that not only meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency, but also offers a durable and robust solution for the most demanding sectors.
